It's very hard for me to believe that Christmas is this Saturday. The weather in Austin has been so damn amazing that it feels more like Spring than Winter. Unfortunately, I don't get to go home to see my family for Christmas this year. It would have been great to see my mom and my sister but I know I would be pretty bummed out on the shitty OREGON WEATHER.

December has been really awesome thus far. Lot's of sunshine and warm weather has made it very difficult to wish I was anywhere else. In the beginning of the month, Cody and I took an early morning road trip to a new skatepark in Marble Falls, Texas. The drive there was sweet because it's super scenic with great views of the Texas Hill Country. The skatepark ended up being really fun because it was so unique. It had some of the of the weirdest obstacles I have ever seen at a skatepark. The park was bike friendly and the locals were really psyched to ride with us.

Last weekend a bunch of us went to the Round Rock Skatepark. Jonno, Logan, Levi, Caleb and myself drove up there together and ran into Bobby and a few other locals. We had a super fun session riding the bowl and carving the Cradle. At the end, one of the local skater kids got on my bike and started bustin moves in the bowl. So awesome to see little kids going for it on a bmx.

Epic Weekend

Last weekend was so damn fun. Fully Cocked premiere on Friday, Anthem II premiere on Saturday, and shredding with Travis and the crew in between. Both premieres were dope! Good times with lots of awesome dudes followed by some good dancing at Barbarella.

Travis's trip to Austin came to an end this afternoon when I dropped him at the airport to fly back to Tacoma. It was awesome having him around after not having seen him for a few years. Halloween Shred

Lots of fun shit has been going down lately. First off, Halloween was a damn good time. Good friends, shitty last minute costumes, and a damn good time on the dance floor at our favorite rug cutting facility downtown. Spent the following day riding and chilling at the 9th street Halloween Trail jam.

In addition to the awesome Halloween festivities, long time homie from the Northwest, Travis Lyons, finally made a trip to Austin to hang out and ride some bikes. Travis has been staying at my house watching "Grizzly Man" once or twice per day, adjusting his brakes every 30 minutes, and killing shit on his bike. Yesterday he showed me a street clip that he self filmed on a tripod while I was at work... Dude is a savage ass Ninja.

Lastly, Clint has finished his DVD Fully Cocked and will be premiering it at Shakespears this Friday at 9:30pm. Check out the flyer below and the trailer HERE. I just scanned in some really old prints that I shot at Woodward back in 1998. I was 16 years old and I remember looking up to Joe Rich's riding quite a bit. Dope style and full throttle every time he rides. I remember making myself learn long ice pick grinds on quarter pipes after seeing Joe ice grind across an entire mini ramp. I never would have expected that I would be living just a few blocks down the street from him 12 years later. Sometimes it's real crazy how things pan out in life.

Last year was pretty damn awesome although I'm sure 2010 is going to be even better. 2009 brought 2 more of my Oregon friends to Austin as permanent residents. Hopefully 2010 will bring a few more.

After more than a week of shitty weather, the normal Austin climate has finally returned. Sunshine, 70 degree temps, and T-shirts in the middle of December reminded me why I love living here.

Devon, Chris, Cody, and Zack were in town all weekend. They joined Seth, Clint, John, and myself on a mission to shred the streets of East Austin. John just moved here from Salem, Oregon to escape the Northwest climate. He is a super chill dude and I'm psyched to have yet another fellow Oregonian living in Austin. Here are a few pictures I snapped this afternoon.

Escape from Austin - Texas Road Trip

Got home from work Friday evening and had absolutely no idea what I was going to do for the weekend. I decided to give Clint a call to see what he was up to. Turns out he had plans to go ride and Film in College Station for the weekend. He asked if I wanted to go and that was that. We made plans to head out early Saturday morning. I have only been on a few roadtrips since I have lived in Texas. Austin has so much good stuff to ride that I rarely find a reason to go anywhere else. I was really excited for this trip because I have always wanted to make it to College Station to ride street at Texas A&M University. In addition to that, I knew it would be a guaranteed good time hanging out and riding with Clint and Devon. We hit the highway early Saturday morning and 2 hours later we arrived in College Station and met up with Devon at his house.

Devon grew up in College Station so we had him drive us around to all his local spots. We hit 2 separate outdoor skateparks, a backyard ramp setup, and the A&M Campus. The A&M campus is a street riding mecca with a ridiculous amount of handrails, ledges, and wallrides. I snapped a few photos and Clint filmed some clips for his next video project. At the end of the street session, we were stopped by a cop on Campus that said we "looked suspicious." He took our ID's, ran our names, and proceeded to bullshit with us about the party scene in Austin. He let us go and we drove to some fun banks behind a Toys R Us.

It got dark super early and we still wanted to ride more. We decided to make the 2 hour drive South to The Woodlands near Houston so that we could meet up with more friends and ride an outdoor skatepark that has lights. When we got to the park, I was surprised to see 2 badass bowls with really good trannies. We ended up shredding the bowls with a few Woodlands locals for about 2 hours before the lights shut off. After the skatepark, we drove to Chris H's apartment in Spring Texas. Chris was nice enough let us sleep at his house so that we could avoid the 2 hour drive back to Devon's house. Chris has an awesome kitten that kept us pretty entertained with his nonstop energy. I passed out face down on the living room floor while everyone was watching a new Bike Vid.

Woke up around 9:30 Sunday and hit the highway to Huntsville Texas to ride yet another University. This place was like a level on Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. The town seemed fairly deserted and had a lot of businesses that were closed or out of business. You seriously couldn't pedal 100 feet without running into a fun street spot that was asking to be shredded. Cops and Campus Security didn't seem to care about us at all. We would be sessioning a spot and they would just drive by like we weren't even there. I wish all cities were as hassle free as Huntsville. Me, Chris, Devon, and Clint explored the campus for awhile, filmed a few clips, and then met up with Cody. Cody drove up from The Woodlands to ride with us and he even brought me a Team Dilly sticker for my bike. Thanks Guy! Eventually, another car load of Houston BMX kids met up with us. By this point we had turned into a group of 10 BMXers cruising from spot to spot. I was definitely expecting things to turn into a bust with a group that big. I was wrong, we continued to ride spots hassle free for the remainder of the day. At one point Devon got squirrelly on a bank and ran into the back of a parked truck. The owner was sitting inside of it and quickly got out to inspect the area of impact. Devon had not caused any damage but he was still noble enough to stay there and apologize instead of just riding off. The owner of the the truck lectured him for a minute before telling him to "go on get out of here."

By the time it got dark we were all pretty damn exhausted. Clint and I had a 3 hour tip back to Austin with a pit stop in College Station to drop Devon off and pick up Clint's car. I haven't been on a roadtrip in a long time and I forgot how much fun it is to travel with good friends. I managed to take a few photos to help remind me why I need to go back and ride those places again. This trip was definitely one of the best times I have had in awhile. Last weekend was effin awesome. I saw Danzig, Face To Face, The Sword, and a bunch of other sweet bands at Fun Fun Fun Fest and I got to hang out and party with Erik from Alaska. I took Monday off from work so that I could go to the Etnies Jam at the T1 Ramp. Had a great time shredding the ramp before the rain came and ended the party. Headed over to Versatile Indoor skatepark and had a good session there. I even managed to shoot a few blurry ass photos!

This place is literally 2 blocks from my apartment so I make it down there to shred quite a bit. It rained a lot this weekend so I spent a fair amount of time at the park escaping the wet weather. Last night there was a really fun party going down at the skatepark with a keg of Lonestar and a ton of Shredders. Danny Hickerson and Dang Dang shut the place down and made everything look way too easy. Tonight there was also a really good session that lasted well past 1AM. Good times!

After several months of development and testing, we finally launched HomeAway's new website for Vacation Real Estate. I have been the sole tester on this rig and the last few weeks have been stupid busy. Working more hours than I want to. Glad it's finally launched so I can go back to a decent work schedule. Go CHECK IT OUT and buy a vacation home or something. If the website does not work, you can blame it on me.

I was way more psyched to see BMX legend Kevin Gutierrez creeping than I was to see Robbie Knievel jump 2 semi trucks. This is definitely the craziest thing I have ever filmed. John Barker attempts the infamous Austin Church Gap. This is the one that Jimmy Levan jumped in Road Fools 1. John would have pulled it clean but he got distracted by the old dude walking up the sidewalk where he was supposed to land. Either way, this thing is crazy and John's the fucking man for even attempting it. This thing looks way bigger in person.

For some reason I decided to crash right on my head and knock myself out while riding trails on Saturday afternoon. Waking up in the back of an ambulance was not the best way to start off the weekend. Thanks go out to all my friends that came to visit me in the hospital. You guys rule!

Somehow I was able to make it out to the Pep Boys ditch to shoot photos the day after my "perfect ten" lawn-dart to the mug. Warning!!! I was still in a daze from my concussion and my left eye was swollen half shut. The photos are a little bit sketchy!

Today was a good sesh. We rode all day. The spots included 9th street, the tranny walls, the 45th street ditch, and some fun street spots on North Lamar. We had a pretty large group with us but managed to avoid getting kicked out of anywhere.

Despite getting a criminal trespass warning for riding the University, today was awesome. Weather was great and it felt good to be back in Austin after my cold winter vacation to Portland. Started off the day at the 9th street trails and then went street riding on the UT campus. After getting trespass warnings from the nicest campus security guards I have ever met, we went and rode some ditches in South Austin. Filmed some decent clips and shredded with some homies.
